Saint Luke Productions
Saint Luke Productions is dedicated to evangelizing and renewing the culture through a Catholic vision focused in the dramatic arts. Our mission is accomplished through the production, distribution, and touring of live and recorded professional dramas, based on historical, scriptural, and modern day stories that inspire audiences to a deeper desire for the Truth of Jesus Christ, and through the education and encouragement of artists and young people who share, or are drawn to our vision. In accord with the teachings of John Paul II and the Second Vatican Council, we believe that a renewal of the culture depends upon a renewal of Catholic family life. Our organization has been established within the context of family, and with the purpose of encouraging a respect for the family, both in our productions and in our work environment.
In 1980, Leonardo Defilippis was a Shakespearean actor who decided to tour the country with a live, one man drama on the Gospel of Luke. He embarked on a spirtual journey that led him to found Saint Luke Productions, and produce dramas on GOSPELS OF LUKE and JOHN, THE SONG OF SONGS, and on the lives of SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI, JOHN OF THE CROSS, MAXIMILIAN: SAINT OF AUSCHWITZ, THE CONFESSIONS OF SAINT AUGUSTINE, and ST. JOHN VIANNEY.
Since 1980, Saint Luke Productions has presented 2,000 performances for more than over a million people in the United States, Canada and Europe. Our videos have won awards in the Chicago Film Festival, the New York Film Festival, Cascade Film Festival, Cindy Awards, FlagStaff Film Festival, Intercom Film Festival Award, Unity Music Festival Award, Cine Film Festival Award and the Mother Teresa Award.
Leonardo Defilippis
Leonardo Defilippis is the founder and president of Saint Luke Productions and Luke Films located near Vancouver, Washington. He is a critically acclaimed Catholic actor, producer, and director of live religious productions, videos, DVDs, and films, including the 2004 feature film THÉRÈSE, which appeared in theaters for an unprecedented 70 weeks. For nearly three decades, Saint Luke Productions has proven to be the only company, by the grace of God, that has a consistent and proven track record of bringing original and quality dramas, videos and movies on the life of Christ and the Saints of our Catholic Church to our current culture.
After years as a Shakespearean actor in the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, San Diego’s Old Globe Theater, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Leonardo embarked on a spiritual journey that led him to found Saint Luke Productions in 1980. He has since performed live for more than a million people throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe in venues that include churches, major theaters, civic centers, penitentiaries, schools, cloistered convents, and World Youth Day in Denver and Rome. His work has inspired vocations and his audiences have included children, dignitaries, church hierarchy, prisoners, students, and concentration camp survivors, to name a few. His productions on Maximilian: Saint of Auschwitz, Saint Francis: Troubadour of God’s Peace, John of the Cross, the Gospels of Luke and John, The Confessions of Saint Augustine and Thérèse: The Story of a Soul have won numerous national and international awards and have been aired on cable and network stations for decades. His movie THÉRÈSE, was the first major motion picture distributed solely by an independent Catholic film company, and funded entirely by donations. The upcoming Saint Luke Productions project on St. John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests, will not only encourage and renew the priesthood and religious life in America, but will also renew parish life and a return to the Sacraments by portraying the true story of a priest who converted an entire village. This production will debut August, 2009.
In August 2008, on the Feast of the Transfiguration, Leonardo celebrated 25 years of marriage to his beloved wife Patti who has journeyed and worked with him through all of the Saint Luke Productions and Luke Films projects. Together, they have dedicated their lives to literally spreading the Gospel message. They have been blessed with seven children, ages 9 to 24, and never have a dull moment to spare.
