Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Isreal, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord. Luke 2:25-26 NAB

An unfurled scroll in the hand of Simeon has an inscription of a prophetic text pointing forward to thefulfillment in Christ. The Child Jesus holds a closed scroll. He is the Word of God, a Sacred Mystery.

Prototype is from a 16th century Icon in Crete, now at the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine in Sinai, Egypt.

Dimensions: 9" tall, 6" wide, 0.5" thick
